HP created a new business unit in the software division today. The new "BIO" (for Business Information Optimization) unit covers a wide variety of business intelligence and information management products, and data archiving -- including email archiving -- is part of it, which means that my group is now part of software division instead of storage division. Though I doubt there will be much operational difference in the short run, this seems to be a pretty sensible and positive change to me. Not that I minded being in storage division, particularly given the huge pallet of disks that arrived in our lab recently

I asked for a briefing. no news yet. quite interesting. i still think HP should buy Teradata... that would really put the cat among the pigeons and propel BIO to market leadership from day one
