It seems that for every good idea on the Internet, there are people who are out to spoil it. Show 'n Tell Thursday is now being spammed. There are peoplescumbags who are applying the SNTT Techorati tag to spam posts. And that means that the central aggregator that I conceived and built to pull in feeds from both individual blogs and from technorati tag feeds is posting links to these low-life's sites.

I'm going to hate to have to throw an approval process into the aggregator code, but I think it's going to be necessary.

Perhaps it's time to consider something other than Technorati to consolidate these posts?

Unless Technorati can deal with the spammers (and how likely is that?), their tags are now unreliable.

As I recall, everyone doing their own thing on their own blogs was an easy default choice. Any chance IBM could host this as a forum?

Well, everybody posting on their own blogs is still viable, if they implement category feeds and register them on the aggregator site.

I'm not sure this was people spamming it intentionally as much as simply misunderstanding the purpose of the tag.

Spam arriving at your initiative is a sure indicator, that you are drawing attention. Of course it is the last indicator we want to see, so it might boil down to abandon the Technorati Tag and rely on the site registration.
Should the aggregator and registration be moved to sntt.openntf.org (I'm sure Nathan doesn't mind pointing a little DNS) to be easier to communicate to others?
