Welcome To The Power Of The Schwartz

My new blog is ready. The blogrolls are populated. The graphics and stylesheet are more or less what I want, at least for now. The first article is published, and for a while I'll be sure to echo each new post with a link from here. The new RSS feed is operational, so you can repoint your aggregators to it.

Don't Panic

No, I haven't hitched a ride on a Vogon ship. I'm still here. I've just been quiet for a couple of weeks.

I had mentioned that I was thinking of changing the name of this blog, and a couple of days ago Declan happened to mention to me that the latest release of BlogSphere has a feature that I had requested a while ago, which will let me easily move all the various long lists that you see on the left and right blocks into a new Blogsphere-based blog. All those lists are generated by @DbLookup calls that I coded into the version of FreeDom Blog that I've been using for the past few years. The data comes from my aggregator database and a couple of other places. The Blogsphere feature uses @DbColumn instead of @DbLookup, but it's a simple matter to add a few views with selection formulae that mimic the lookup keys, so instead of just renaming the blog, it's time to migrate to BlogSphere. It will happen within the next few days. I've configured it, set up some CSS that's at least good enough to get started with, and I've moved most ot the static content over from this blog. The only thing I haven't done yet is migrate all story content -- and frankly I may not even do that. I may just generate a static page with links to all my old articles.

By the way, speaking of Declan, I was speaking with Declan just a few hours ago, via Skype. We're working on putting together the pieces of our presentation for Lotusphere 2005, which is titled Improving Collaboration With Blogs And Wikis In Domino. It will be quite different from the presentation I did in London (whose slides you can see in the Wiki that I built for the presentation). Declan and I are working hard on making it much less of a general introduction, and much more of a technical how-to for implementors interested in integrating blog and Wiki capabilities into their existing Domino-based collaboration environment.

Breakfast Mathematics

Do you enjoy poppy seed bagels? And do you think strange mathematical thoughts in your spare time? If so, then read about the poppy-seed bagel theorem.

Quod Erat Delicious. Especially with a shmear and some nice nova lox :-)
