The Rose Restaurant in Prescott, Arizona is one of the finest restaurants I've eaten at anywhere in the world. I'm not quite as well traveled as Ed Brill (I've only vistied 36 of the 50 US states... the only one on my list that isn't on Ed's is Utah... and I'm way behind him in foreign countries, with only 10), but I know great food whan I taste it, and The Rose is great food. It is also priced surprisingly reasonably. I had a veal chop, which was thick, tender and cooked to perfection with shitake mushrooms and a light ginger glaze, with wild rice and asparagus on the side, and an apple pie for dessert. The atmosphere was classy but casual, with most of the wait staff wearing something light-hearted, like a Sponge Bob necktie, to complement their more formal outfit. Service was prompt and attentive. The town of Prescott is quite interesting and lively, as well, with many antique shops, galleries, and quite a saloons. On the weekend, within just a few feet of where I was staying -- at the Hotel Vendome -- there was a farmer's market, an auto show, and a flea market.
