Ichiro I haven't seen any mention of this on any of the blogs that I read regularly. I find that a bit odd, since at least a few of those bloggers are known to be baseball afficionados. So, I'll mention it: Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners broke one of the oldest records in major leage baseball yesterday, George Sisler's record of 257 hits in one season 84 years ago. This is an absolutely remarkable achievement, even more so because Suzuki played for a team that, to put it as charitably as possible, had a really bad year. On a better team, he would have gotten more at-bats, and very likely could have broken the record in just 154 games. He has also now broken the record for most hits over a four year period, with 919.
