Kerry Does 40 Percent Better Than Gore In Earliest Returns Democrats don't win in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, at least not since 1968. George W. Bush easily won, by a vote of 19-7 in the tiny town that opens their polls at midnight and closes them as soon as all 26 registered voter residents have cast their ballots in order to assure that they are the first US town to report Presidential election results every four years. Kerry's 7 votes, however, are 40% better than Al Gore's 5 votes in Dixville Notch in 2000.
