London Calling No, I'm not really following Colin's obscure song titles as titles lead. And who could possibly call London Calling obscure? No, that's definitely not what this is about. I'm going to London. It's been more than 18 years since I was last there, and that was only for about 48 hours... most of which time I spent in Hounslow, actually. I think I was in downtown London for about two hours. That was just part of a very eventful trip -- my first real business trip actually, which I came away from with an amazing that I might write about someday, but I expect this trip to be eventful in its own right. Certainly it will be less hectic given that on that trip 18 years ago I did a real "If It's Tuesday This Must Be Belgium" tour of five cities in seven days, with two overnight stops in Paris totalling less than 24 hours between them! This trip is just London for seven days.
I'll be attending the 25th meeting of Penumbra Group, and then I'll be attending and presenting two sessions at the Groupware Magazine AdminUK 2003 Conference. One of my sessions will cover blogging technology, and the other will be about performance. Also presenting at the conference will be bloggers Ed Brill, Ben Langhinrichs (whom I had the pleasure of assisting with a small JavaScript problem today), Mr. LotusGeek himself, Rocky Oliver, Warren Elsmore, and Andrew Pollack. If you're reading this and you will be attending the conference, too, I hope we get a chance to sit down and chat for a while!
I should have good connectivity for most of the trip, so I hope to continue blogging regularly.
I should also note that as I've been typing this, the Yankees just too game 3 of the series, so they have a 2 to 1 lead now and there's a very good chance that I'll still be out of the country when the series concludes. I wonder... is Fox Network available in London hotels?
