London Week I have to say, being in London this past week has been a pleasure. Meeting Warren Elsmore, Alan Bell and Bill Buchan, as well as reuniting with Ed Brill, Rocky Oliver, Ben Langhinrichs, Andrew Pollack was, of course, much fun... and so, too, was meeting my non-blogger friends from past events and also many new friends in the Lotus community... but London itself is the real star of this trip. The Admin UK 2003 conference, though rather small, has gone very well. A video projection problem during my session yesterday was only mildly disconcerting. I just kept on going, with people following along on printed copies of the slides -- and nobody seemed to mind all that much. The politeness and overall calm of the British rose to the occasion, I suspect.
The conference will be over in a few hours. I have one more presentation to do before that, and then I will become a tourist. Not that I haven't been already in the bits of free time that I have had, but I haven't actually had a chance to go inside any of the many museums and historic sites that I have passed while walking or riding around. Tomorrow I hope to visit at least a couple of places before having to pack up and go to Heathrow. A little gifft shopping is on the agenda, too. I've already picked up a few trinkets, Dad definitely needs to bring home something better than trinkets from this trip, and he will!
