Make That Sixteen Anti-Spam Vendors At Lotusphere! While doing final preparations for my portion of BP111 Controlling Spam Mail In Your Organization, I recently went through the list of vendors registered for the Lotusphere Product Showcase and counted how many were offering anti-spam solutions. I found fourteen. There were also a few conspicuous absences -- companies that I would have expected to see registered but didn't find listed -- so I dug through my collection of business cards from prior years and sent some messages. A representative of one of the firms responded to let me know that they would indeed be represented by one of their partners. Here's a list of the vendors:
My recollection is that there were 10 vendors registered last year.... so that makes a 50% increase for this year. I guess it's to be expected that the number of solutions should grow roughly in the same proportion as the growth we've seen in the problem. I can think of at least three vendors with solutions, by the way, that are not registered. There are also two open source solutions, so that means there are at least twenty solutions to choose from. That's pretty amazing.
Update I just noticed another name on the list. I don't think they were there the last time I looked. Message Labs is now registered, so that makes Sixteen anti-spam vendors at the conference!
