Microsoft Took 200 Days To Fix The Latest Critical Flaw In Windows See this New York TImes report, or this CNet article. Judging by the description, the flaw is probably exploitable via a variety of network protocols, so closing down one port isn't going to protect you if there are any exploits out there. eEye says they reported it to Microsoft 200 days ago, but given how pervasive the problem appears to be, it appears that despite the extraordinarily long time Microsoft has taken to issue a patch, I think the bullet has been dodged. if there was an exploit we'd have heard of it by now. Patches are finally available, and very strongly recommended. -rich
