New Years Resolutions

Well, aside from the annual "I will lose a lot of weight" resolution, which I really do intend to work on... really... there are a couple of other resolutions that I do want to make publicly. First, there's "I will get back to blogging more frequently". No, it's not the most important resolution I could make, but it is something that I want to do. Second, "I will bring at least two products to market in 2004". That's a resolution that I feel very strongly about. Consulting is picking up. I'm busier than I've been in a long while, but -- and I did blog about this last year -- it seems to me that product development is where I should be. I have spent a good bit of the past year investigating and even prototyping a number of product ideas, making some small moves in that direction, but not really taking the plunge. Now is the time to go for it and make the serious committment.

I'll still have to wrestle with the dilemma of short-term consuilting revenue versus product development time -- and I do have to feed my family, so product will not always win... but I do have a product in development now that I'm excited about and I'm counting on that excitement to carry me well into the transition. A revenue stream would be nice, too ;-) And just as important as the product that I'm already working on is a relationship that I'm building that should lead to a series of exciting product opportunities.
