Orkut Community of Domino Bloggers Rob started a Domino Bloggers community on Orkut. It's small, but growing. There's also a larger Notes/Domino Professionals community there. It would be great to see them both grow even more. I hadn't spent much time on Orkut until last week. I had joined, but had only one friend connected. I had concentrated more of my social networking experimentation on LinkedIn. Although I've been rapidly adding connections on Orkut, I still have more on LinkedIn. Orkut is a more feature-rich system, but it does tend to be a bit slow. I managed to use LinkedIn to connect (or, I should say, reconnect) with former Lotus BP Program head honcho Don Bulens, and when Don and I got together for coffee at a Starbucks about halfway between our respective homes, we coincidentally ran into Percussion's Peter Webster. who had worked for a client of mine that was also a major Lotus BP, and I hadn't seen in several years. Although I haven't taken Orkut up to that level yet, it's search engine (unsurprisingly since it's a Google site!) has helped me locate quite a few people from my past, and re-connections are likely to happen. I'm not sure that social networking systems will have much more value than that, but I think that might be enough value on its own to actually make it worth the effort.
