Pete Rose Pete Rose finally admitted that he bet on baseball while he was managing the Cincinatti Reds. Now, I was never a big fan of Pete Rose, but I did respect him. He was a hard man to like, frankly. I agree with former commisioner Fay Vincent, who said that Rose is "not a very good person". Rose's skills and his intensity, however, as a player were undeniable. Now that he has finally come clean, it is time for him to be reinstated and installed in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He belongs there. His transgressions occurred when he was managing, not playing. His playing record should be recognized in the Hall. If the powers-that-be of Major League Baseball want to, they can wipe his managerial career out of the books. They can even mention the disgrace he brought upon himself as a manager right on his plaque in the Hall, but they should honor the great playing career of the game's all-time base hit leader. s
