Slides From BP111: Controlling Spam Mail In Your Organization Dieter Stalder and I have posted the slides from our Lotusphere presentation on the Spam Research web site. I also have a couple of spreadsheets posted on the Resources page of my own web site, which present examples of analysis of cost of spam to typical organizations. These are not intended to be finished works, but can provide a useful starting point for doing a cost-justification for spam countermeasures.
Coming soon (ok... eventually) will be a summary, perhaps in matrix form, of 21 third-party and/or open source anti-spam solutions for Domino. I covered eighteen third party solutions in the presentation, only to find that there was one vendor whose late registration (and omission of the actual word "spam" in their abstract) caused me to miss them. The one vendor that I missed was MailFrontier. The eighteen that I covered included the sixteen listed here, plus Barracuda and McAfee, who were also late registrants but I did catch up with them in time to put them in the presentation. I also mentioned two open source soltutions: kSpam and Spam Assassin (along with the rules hack that allows SpamAssassin to integrate better with Domino 6).
Update OK... that matrix never materialized, but there is an updated version of the presentation. Not many changes, but some statistics brought up to date.
