Survey on Third Party Anti-Spam Products Dieter Stalder and I will be doing a session on anti-spam best practices at Lotusphere 2004. In last year's presentation, we had hoped to do a comparison of the various third-party products that supplement Domino's built-in anti-spam tools, but we ran out of time. This year we will have enough time, because there won't just be one session on the topic of spam... there will be two! Our IBM co-presenter from last year, Meredith Lovett, will be doing her own session devoted to the built-in features of Domino, so Dieter and I will have more time to talk about the third party tools. I'd like to cover all open source and/or freeware tools that are integrated with Domino, as well as all commercial packages that are being represented by vendors in the product showcase (whether or not they are tightly integrated with Domino). I've learned from experience last year, however, that a quick survey of the show floor won't necessarily unearth all the anti-spam vendors. I missed a couple -- including one of the big ones -- last year. I also know that I can't personally do a hands-on review of all of them in advance, so I want to do some open preparation for the talk here in the blogosphere. Therefore, I'm asking for a little help from all of you.
First of all, if you could post a response telling me what anti-spam products you are using in your organization, that would be great. Secondly, if you're willing to answer a few questions about how you use the product(s), or if you can refer me to someone who can, it would be a big help if you could drop me an email to let me know. Third, if you could please send a bookmark to this post's perma-link to any friends you have in the Domino world who aren't regular blog readers and ask them to help out, that would be amazingly helpful. Fourth, please look at the list I have compiled at the bottom of this post, and if you're aware of any anti-spam tools for Domino that I have omitted, please let me know. And last, if you happen to be a vendor of anti-spam products, or a developer or an open-source anti-spam too, please drop me an email telling me who I can contact so I can make sure that I have accurate information about your product or tool.
BTW: given the amount of spam that refers to anti-spam products, if you are sending me an email in response to this post, please be sure to make it clear in the subject line that you are responding to my blog entry. Otherwise, there is some risk that I may miss your message.
