The Offshore Call Center Backlash This New York Times story about Dell's decision to move their call center back from Bangalore is a good sign, IMHO. I've had several terrible experiences with Dell customer support lately, and it was pretty clear that I was talking to offshore people. Unfortunately, the article only talks about support for the Dell Optiplex and Latitude lines, and I've been using an Inspiron. If Inspiron support stays offshore -- as this CNET article implies -- that will seal my decision not to buy another one. They're just not built for the kind of heavy usage that I give to a laptop, so they're pretty much guaranteed to have support issues.
