To Arizona Well, it's off to Arizona in the morning. Flying Southwest, a fun airline usually, and their price usually can't be beat. I've been to Arizona for a couple of Advisor conferences, but never had the chance to do much touristy stuff. I'll probably see a bit more of Arizona on this trip than I have in the past, but I still won't get to the Grand Canyon. This is a business trip.
Speaking of Advisor, I didn't go to the conference they've been doing this week in Vegas. I wanted to, but this is just a terrible time of year to be away from home for a full week. School is wrapping up, and there are concerts, shows, recitals, etc. all squeezed into the next few weeks, and then my wife and kids go off to camp for the summer. (My wife is the camp nurse.) So, I skipped the conference. I hear from my friends that it's been a good one. Rob Novak and Rocky Oliver have blogged about it. (By the way... Rob has an RSS feed, now, by the way. Add him to your aggregator!) Rock confirmed that Bruce Elgort is the "fantastic drummer" that Andrew Pollack (of Northern Collaborative Technology) mentioned to me in an AIM chat a few hours ago. I sure do miss those Advisor jams! Rock also mentioned that the book sold out at the conference book store. Wow! Since I wrote some of the early chapters, I guess that means that a few people will be reading my words on the plane ride home ;-) Henry Newberry is also at the conference, but he hasn't blogged. Bad Henry!
The purpose of my trip, by the way, is to attend a meeting of Penumbra Group. Some of you may have already been curious enough to have clicked the big "P" graphic at the upper right, or perhaps you've seen the page on my company web site that describes Penumbra, or perhaps you've run into us at Lotusphere or some other event. If not, Penumbra was organized eight years ago to bring together the talents of many small Lotus-oriented consultancies to practice in our business what we preach to our clients: collaboration. The meetings are always interesting. Although I obviously can't report directly on the business issues that we'll be talking about, I'll probably get inspiration for one or two good topics for this blog out of it.
